Give Easter a twist with pomegranate wine

There's nothing more traditional than roast lamb and chocolate eggs at this time of year, but instead of sticking to tried and tested red wine as an accompaniment, add a bit of a twist with a pomegranate version.

Made from 100% pomegranate juice and no added sugar, Rimon Wines are produced using traditional winemaking techniques, but with all the flavours of the pomegranate rather than the usual grapes.

As well as the fruity flavour, pomegranates have a string of health benefits including high levels of antioxidants and vitamins A, B, C, iron and calcium - although that's not an excuse to down a whole bottle in one, as the wines have an alcohol content of between 13.8% and 18%.

There's a dry table wine, sweeter dessert wine and port to choose from, all created from the vineyard in Israel's Galilee region.

Try teaming the dry wine with its hint of spice with red meats, such as roast lamb, while the dessert wine has cherry flavours which go well with chocolate. Finish up with the full-bodied port as an accompaniment to cheese.

The range is priced from £19.99, although the three wines are currently on offer direct from the Rimon Winery website at www.rimonwinery.co.uk. They are also available at selected Waitrose and Tesco stores and specialist UK drinks retailers.
