Denmark - Boller (Danish Buns)

By Cathy Winston

Posted on Jun 14th 2010

Whether you like football or not, you can get into the spirit of the World Cup with this traditional Danish recipe, courtesy of the Hairy Bikers. The two chefs have teamed up with npower to create 32 recipes for each of the competing nations.

Makes: 30

Ingredients
4 tsp easy blend yeast
500ml warm water and milk, mixed
50g butter or margarine, melted
1-2tsp salt
1-2tsp sugar
Approx 900g wheat flour
25g sesame seed
25g sugar for dusting

Method
Mix the flour, yeast, salt, 1-2 teaspoons sugar and melted butter. Add warm water (not too hot as it will kill the yeast).

Knead for 5 – 10 mins until smooth. Leave to rise for 30 mins in warm place.

Form in to bun shapes and leave to rise for a further 30 mins.

Brush with egg and sprinkle with sesame seeds or sugar. Bake the Bollers at 220C/gas 7 for 10-15 mins.

Energy Rating: Two stars
