North Korea - Korean Hamburgers

Whether you like football or not, you can get into the spirit of the World Cup with a taste of Korea, courtesy of the Hairy Bikers. The two chefs have teamed up with npower to create 32 recipes for each of the competing nations. Serves: 4
Ingredients
450g ground beef
4tbsp soy sauce
2tbsp sugar
1tbsp sesame seeds
1tbsp vegetable oil
3tbsp spring onions, finely chopped
1tbsp minced garlic
Pinch of black pepper
Method
Mix together all the ingredients. Shape into 4 patties. Grill or fry until the patties are brown and cooked thoroughly.
Serve on a bun with Teriyaki Sauce and salad.

Whats North Korean about this? If you happened to be a North Korean, a beef burger would probably cost you your entire earnings for the rest of your life! A very uninspired contribution by the Bikers.

Agree. Can't see what makes this burger 'north korean'. Oriental perhaps or asian with the use of soy sauce and sesame seeds.
I sometimes like to add oyster sauce for seasoning. Gives the burger a different flavour. Alternatively, add some spices like curry powder, a bit of chilli or some freshly ground cumin and coriander.
