Chancellor will not waiver over cuts {Daily Finance UK}

Aug 17th 2010 9:01AM
It is about time something was done to rectify the previous Governmental cockups. My husband is 40 and worked all his adult life until January 09. Since then he has been unemployed because a stroke left him with sight problems, he also has kidney failure and diabetes. He is not entitled to claim any benefits because he is not classed as disabled in any way. He cannot get a job because he cannot drive due to his sight, he cannot get manual work because of his kidney failure, which leaves him constantly tired, and diabetes and when he does manage to find a job he could do he gets no further than the application form because no employer wants to employ him due to his health problems. As a result we are trying to manage on my wages of just over £13000 per year and are now having to sell our house because I cannot afford the mortgage and all the other bills that go with life in the good old UK. Neither of us smoke, drink or go out and neither do we go on holiday because we cannot afford it. We do not have Sky or anything like that because of the costs involved. I run a small second hand car so I can get to work otherwise I would not be able to afford the public transport costs. Yet if I was 'fresh off the boat' I would get a house, benefits, council tax help, medical help etc. etc.
Does this sound a bit backward to anyone else or am I just being bitter?

First TV abortion ad due for broadcast next week {Lemondrop UK}

May 20th 2010 10:37AM
For the sake of argument, what would you rather - unplanned pregnancy resulting in abortion or unplanned pregnancy resulting in unwanted child left in care with the many hundreds of other unwanted children. Caring society - I don't think so, not when 'pro-lifers' would rather have our children's homes filled with the unplanned or unwanted results. Surely it is better to be offering more counselling to those women who feel they can find no other solution to abortion in order to help them to progress, or perhaps society could be less harsh on them in the first place. It is not a good enough argument to say that there are couples who would give everything to have a child. Fine, so why are there still so many unwanted children hoping to be adopted? Let's get real here and address the issues that need attention and not pander to the goody goodies who give no leaway to the opinions and feelings of others.

The world's most fattening foods {Kitchen Daily - UK}

Apr 15th 2010 6:35AM
My god, what gives you the right to be so judgemental. Not everyone who is overweight sits around all day not working. Not everyone who cannot walk can make it to the fridge. As someone who suffers with stenosis (look it up) and chronic back pain - not because of my weight - I find your comment really offensive. I don't hold a disability badge even though I could, I do work, usually more than 60 hours a week, I don't eat huge amounts but I do eat some of the wrong kinds of foods. I cannot walk far because of my back problems but I am considerate of others, something which it seems you might benefit from.

The shocking truth about processed foods {Kitchen Daily - UK}

There are always vegetarian alternatives to things like Worcester Sauce which does not contain anchovies. It might just take a while to find them which is where the internet and specialist food shops could prove useful.

The shocking truth about processed foods {Kitchen Daily - UK}

Feb 24th 2010 5:44AM
I knew i was sticking to pure unprocessed foods for a good reason and my 25yr old vegetarian daughter only eats pure unprocessed foods too. There should be more promotion of foods like this rather than trying to fill the nation up on rubbish processed stuff

Jedward sensationally survive X Factor bottom two {Inside TV Blog}

Nov 9th 2009 7:59AM
Oh come on. Surely it is not that difficult to see why Simon did what he did on Sunday. The ratings would fall drastically if the twins were voted off. Less ratings equals less revenue. It is all political and nothing to do with who can or cannot sing. With Louis being a grumpy guts this time it is really time the show was axed altogether.

Robbie 'thrown off his stride' in X Factor comeback {Celebrity UK}

Oct 13th 2009 6:44AM
I knew Robbie when he was a little lad visiting his nan so it is great to see he has made his comeback. I thought his performance was brilliant and he was just so excited to have pulled it off. How many other people could have done such a thing with such grace, vitality and aplomb?

WAG Coleen in shock NHS birth news {Celebrity UK}

Good for her, it's a pity that more of the 'better off' ranks didn't support the NHS. Go girlfriend and I hope all goes well with the birth. xx
